The Chewings Trek is a top tier 4-6 day trek covering some of the very best sections and locations of the Larapinta Trail. Though the trek covers only three sections (4-5) and can be done in 2 days, a vast portion of hikers will split these sections into two days to fully maximise on the experience over a 3-4 day period.

CHEWINGS TREK EXPRESS PACKAGE
The express package provides the basics needed to complete this outstanding 4-5 day trek - the two transfers and a food drop to Standley Chasm. Both transfers are located at remote trailheads which require high-clearance four-wheel drives to access. The drive along these remote access tracks are at times rough but they are scenic and many hikers enjoy the 4WD to and from these places.

TREK PACKAGE INCLUSIONS
TRANSFERS / STANDLEY CHASM <> HUGH GORGE
Vehicle transfers to/from Standley Chasm and/or Hugh Gorge. Hugh Gorge Trailhead is one of the most remote trailheads along the Larapinta Trail requiring a high clearance 4WD to access. These are generally long-duration (2-3hr) transfers, some of which are along rough, but scenic 4WD tracks.
Transfer Timings - Drop Offs
> Alice Springs Departures: 7:30AM
> Travel time to Standley Chasm is 45 min, arriving approx 820am
> Travel time to Hugh Gorge is approx 1.5/2hrs
Transfer Timings - Pick Ups
> Hugh Gorge Pick up time: 4:30pm
> Travel time to Alice Springs is approx 1.5/2hrs
> Arrival to Alice Springs is at approx 6:30pm
> Standley Chasm pick up time is 2pm
> Travel time to Alice Springs is 40min, arriving approx 240pm

PLB RENTAL
A Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) is an essential piece of kit all hikers should carry, particularly solo hikers. If you are in a serious and life-threatening emergency or situation such as a snake bite, severe heat exhaustion etc, a PLB can save your life by instantly notifying emergency services.
