PLB/SPOT TRACKER TERMS AND CONDITIONS
You are wholly and entirely responsible for knowing how to use the PLB or SPOT Tracker. LTTS is not responsible for showing you how to use it.
PERSONAL LOCATOR BEACON HIRE (PLB)
1. PLB HIRE REQUIREMENTS

Overview
 
1. a. You will be required to provide some specific information about Yourself and Your Trek Plan. This information will be submitted to AMSA (Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) which will use this information if You activate the PLB
 
1. b Larapinta Trail Trek Support will also register Your Trek Plan into its system as a secondary monitoring procedure.
None of your details are shared in the public domain. It is purely for emergency use purposes. Your privacy is protected by law.

 
1. c  Remember, it is essential Your Trek Plan is accurate and provides a clear outline of Your trek itinerary as rescue efforts and its effectiveness will be based on this information.  
 
1. d Information will be requested about what specific items You are carrying which will be essential during any rescue, such as a torch, bright clothing, strobe light or whistle. This is very important because if You cannot be seen or heard, rescuers may take much longer to locate you.
Individual/Group Details 

 
1.e We require the full name of the person booking the PLB or the primary person of the group booking the PLB.
 
1.f These details will be registered with AMSA (Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA).
 
Trek Plan
 
1.g We require a complete Trek Plan for Your hire of the PLB while on the Larapinta Trail. The Trek Plan should be as detailed as possible because this is what will be the primary source of information AMSA uses if You initiate the PLB
 
1.h This Trek Plan can be submitted via email or using Our PLB Registration form online on our Website. The information requirements will be clearly detailed on the form.
 
1.i The Trek Plan will be submitted to AMSA and will be registered in the Larapinta Trail Trek Support system so that We can monitor Your trek as well.
 
2. LIABILITY, INDEMNITY AND DISCLAIMERS
 
2.a You indemnify and waive all present and future rights to sue or claim against Larapinta Trail Trek Support for any personal loss, damage, injury or death that You may suffer arising from the possession or use of the PLB during the hire period.
 
2.b You indemnify and waive all present and future rights to sue or claim against Larapinta Trail Trek Support for any personal loss, damage, injury or death suffered by a third party, or loss or damage to property of a third party, or financial loss of a third party, arising from the possession or use of the PLB during the hire period.
 
2.c You agree to use the PLB at Your own risk and further agree that Larapinta Trail Trek Support makes no representations as to the adequacy or effectiveness of the PLB
 
2.d While we make every reasonable effort to ensure PLB is in excellent working condition, You indemnify and waive all present and future rights to sue or claim against Larapinta Trail Trek Support for any personal loss, damage, injury or death that You may suffer arising from equipment failure of the PLB.
 
2.e We shall not be held liable whatsoever for any damages to property, injury or any consequential loss or expense resulting from any incorrect use or operation of the PLB during your hire period.
 
3. GUARANTEE OF WORKING CONDITION
 
3.a The PLB is provided to You in correct working order and in excellent condition. The PLB is regularly inspected and checked by Us.
 
4. SIGNATURE SIGN OUT
 
4.a You will be required to sign a form for the PLB on delivery which contains the PLB serial number, make, model, the current date, the hire period, Your name and Your booking number.
 
5. YOUR PLB HIRE PERIOD AND RETURN OBLIGATIONS
 
5.a You must ensure the PLB is returned in the same condition as it was delivered to You.
 
5.b You accept full responsibility for the use and care of the PLB while it is in Your possession 
 
5.c If the PLB is returned damaged, as deemed by Us, You will be charged for the repair or replacement of the device at full retail cost. This charge will be made against Your credit card.
 
5.d Under these terms, You are obligated to report to Us any extreme use of, and exposure to the PLB, such as submersion into water;  being dropped onto rocks or being crushed.
 
5.e You must return the PLB in its original protective covering with the Instruction Manual intact.
 
5.f You must return the PLB on the nominated date.
 
6. PLB DAMAGE
 
6.a We will inspect the PLB returns for any damage, or activation
 
6.b If the PLB is repairable You will be charged for the repairs. If the PLB is not repairable You will be charged the full retail value of the PLB and You will have the option to keep the damaged PLB.
 
7. PLB  USE OR ACTIVATION SEAL BREAKS
 
7.a You agree that the PLB has a seal over the activation switch, which means the PLB has not been activated and therefore the batteries meet the manufacturer’s specifications and warranty.
 
7.b If the seal is broken for any reason whatsoever, other than an actual emergency situation, You will be charged $330.
 
7.c Any use or activation of the PLB features is Your responsibility. We will not incur any associated costs or be liable for any consequential loss, damage or injury resulting from its use during Your usage period.
 
7.d You are solely responsible for knowing how to use the PLB. While We will provide a basic introduction of the PLB, it's Your responsibility to know how to use it.
 
8. OWNERSHIP OF EQUIPMENT
 
8.a You understand and accept that the PLB remains the property of Larapinta Trail Trek Support and that You must not sub-hire, transfer hire or sell any part of the PLB under any circumstances.
 
9. YOUR POTENTIAL ADDITIONAL BORROWING FEES
 
9.a If You choose to keep the PLB for more days than You have booked You will be charged an additional borrowing fee at a rate of $15 per day for every additional day of Your borrowing. The maximum amount of additional days permitted is 5 days
 
9.b If You do not return Your PLB 5 days after Your trek You will be charged the full retail value of the PLB.
 
9.c If You fail to pay this charge, action will be taken against You to recoup the cost of the PLB and the recovery action.
 
9.d The recovery agency may also lodge a credit report against You.
 
9.e We may also lodge a theft report to police if the PLB is not returned and any efforts to recoup the cost of the PLB fail.
 
10. THE PLB YOU RECEIVE

•    1x Protective Pouch and Retention Strap
•    1x Instruction Manual

 
SPOT TRACKER HIRE

1. SPOT TRACKER  HIRE REQUIREMENTS

 

Overview

 

1. a. You will be required to provide some specific information about Yourself and Your Trek Plan. This information will be submitted to GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Centre (GEOSIERCC)  which will use this information if You activate the SPOT SOS button.

 

1. b Larapinta Trail Trek Support will also register Your Trek Plan into its system as a secondary monitoring procedure. None of your details are shared in the public domain. It is purely for emergency use purposes. Your privacy is protected by law.

6. SPOT TRACKER DAMAGE

 

6.a We will inspect the SPOT Tracker  returns for any damage, or activation

 

6.b If the SPOT Tracker  is repairable You will be charged for the repairs. If the SPOT Tracker  is not repairable You will be charged the full retail value of the SPOT Tracker and You will have the option to keep the damaged SPOT Tracker .

 

7. SPOT TRACKER USE

 

7.b Any use or activation of the SPOT Tracker  features is Your responsibility. We will not incur any associated costs or be liable for any consequential loss, damage or injury resulting from its use during Your usage period.

 

7.d You are solely responsible for knowing how to use the SPOT Tracker.

 

7.e We only provide a short familiarisation to EXTRA Package customers only.

 

8. OWNERSHIP OF EQUIPMENT

 

8.a You understand and accept that the SPOT Tracker  remains the property of Larapinta Trail Trek Support and that You must not sub-hire, transfer hire or sell any part of the SPOT Tracker  under any circumstances.

 

9. YOUR POTENTIAL ADDITIONAL BORROWING FEES

 

9.a If You choose to keep the SPOT Tracker  for more days than You have booked You will be charged an additional borrowing fee at a rate of $15 per day for every additional day of Your borrowing. The maximum amount of additional days permitted is 5 days

 

9.b If You do not return Your SPOT Tracker  5 days after Your trek You will be charged the full retail value of the SPOT Tracker

 

9.c If You fail to pay this charge, action will be taken against You to recoup the cost of the SPOT Tracker  and the recovery action.

 

9.d The recovery agency may also lodge a credit report against You.

 

9.e We may also lodge a theft report to police if the SPOT Tracker  is not returned and any efforts to recoup the cost of the SPOT Tracker  fail.

 

10. THE SPOT TRACKER YOU RECEIVE

•    4x AAA Energizer™ Lithium Ultimate Batteries

 

11. ONLINE INFORMATION REGISTRATION

 

11a. You will be required to complete an online registration form for the SPOT Tracker The link will be emailed to you. The form contains all the essential information needed for the online registration of the SPOT tracker.

 

11b. We will submit all Your information online to the SPOT portal which includes the alert emails and SMS, SOS and the tracking portal.

 

11.c All your information and privacy is protected by law. Once Your trek is completed, We permanently delete all Your details from the SPOT system.
